Opera and MSI create custom browser experience for gamers

Opera GX and MSI have teamed up to create a customized browser experience for gamers.

Olso, Norway-based Opera, which makes the Opera GX gaming browser, has collaborated with MSI, a gaming hardware company, to introduce the Opera GX MSI Edition. They made the announcement at the CES 2024 tech trade show in Las Vegas today.

This co-branded browser edition offers a unique and immersive experience, featuring exclusive MSI-themed interactive elements and a specially designed MSI Mod, complete with a playable live wallpaper game starring Lucky the Dragon, MSI’s mascot.

Ted Hung, general manager of the computing and display business at MSI, said in a statement, “The collaboration introduces the Opera GX MSI Edition and a new MSI Mod, ensuring users engage with the MSI brand in an interactive and enjoyable manner while using the preferred browser for gamers.”

The Opera GX MSI Edition introduces an animated iteration of MSI’s iconic mascot, Lucky the Dragon, within the browser interface. Leveraging Live Wallpapers, this feature turns the browser into an interactive gaming platform where users nurture Lucky from an egg to a fully grown dragon.

Through Game Strips, users can engage with Lucky, nurturing and advancing through different stages of the Live Wallpaper game. Once completed, users can choose from various MSI-branded wallpapers or retain Lucky as a constant companion within their browser.

Mattijs de Valk, vice president of business development gaming at Opera, hinted at future collaborations between MSI and Opera GX. He said in a statement, “This partnership with MSI is just the beginning of a series of upcoming engagements. Users from both MSI and Opera GX can anticipate more collaborative projects and special initiatives in the near future.”

To experience the Opera GX MSI Edition, users can download it directly by visiting here. Existing Opera GX users interested in trying this specially themed version can upgrade by installing the official MSI Mod from the Opera GX.Store site.
