The WiiM Amp Is More Than Just an Amplifier

Getting the right amplifier is important, especially when you want to use more powerful headphones that don’t always work on standard headphone jacks. As you go louder, in some cases, you might need external help, whether that’s for boosting output, improving sound quality, or just making sure your audio is working just fine. WiiM just released the WiiM Amp, and it looks like an impressive option.

The WiiM Amp is a versatile streaming amplifier designed to enhance audio quality and connectivity for your music. The WiiM Amp boasts a Class-D amplifier with 60 Watts per channel (8 ohms) or 120 Watts per channel (4 ohms), delivering high-fidelity sound to up to four demanding speakers on a single amplifier. It’s also equipped with a TI 3255 Amplifier chip as well as multiple audio inputs, including analog (RCA), digital Optical port, and HDMI ARC. It also supports up to 24-bit/192 kHz of gapless playback for high-res music, and it includes a subwoofer output with automatic bass management for improved sound quality.

The amplifier incorporates an ESS Sabre premium DAC with a 32-bit HyperStream architecture, providing low distortion and a wide dynamic range. It also has USB connectivity for accessing personal media libraries, something that also allows it to act as a media server for other WiiM devices. It offers various EQ and Parametric EQ options to customize sound preferences and optimize performance.

For connectivity options, you get Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, Ethernet, and USB Host for local music playback. It can stream music from Deezer, Qobuz, Pandora, DLNA, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL HiFi and HiFi+, and for other services and applications, the WiiM Amp supports Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, and Alexa Music Cast. Not bad.

The WiiM Amp is designed to seamlessly integrate with existing audio systems, classic passive speakers, and vintage record players. It can be controlled with control through the WiiM Home App, or with voice commands through the WiiM Voice Remote.

You can buy the WiiM Amp for $299 on Amazon, and it’s available in either silver or space gray, so you have two options to match it with your surrounding tech or furniture. That’s expensive, but all the features can probably justify that price tag.
